Mark Schuetz is the founder, a partner, and Chief Technology Officer of BtB, LLC. From 1991 to the present, Mark has been President of Replex Plastics in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Under his leadership as founder and President, Replex has become a world leader in the manufacture of convex acrylic mirrors, polycarbonate playground domes, and thermoformed closed circuit TV domes.
In 2008 Replex won a $350,000 grant from the Ohio Third Frontier program to help fund development of solar concentrators leveraging Replex' existing mirror manufacturing technology; this was followed in early 2010 by a $1.2 million grant from the Ohio Third Frontier program for development of a low-cost low-concentration photovoltaic module employing Replex' concentrator technology. This technology is being developed in collaboration with researchers from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Mark has both graduate and undergraduate engineering degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a number of patents in his field.
Neill Lane, a partner and co-founder of BtB, LLC, served as its president until mid- 2009. Neill is currently the President and CEO of Global Cooling Inc., a developer and manufacturer of ultra-low temperature freezers for the life sciences market. The company’s products offer unmatched energy efficiency and reliability while cooling to the temperatures required for the long term preservation of biological material.
From 1998 to 2008 Neill was the President and CEO of Sunpower Inc. in Athens, Ohio, a world leader in the design and development of Stirling engines, coolers, free-piston compressors and linear compressors.
Neill is a graduate in mechanical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and has worked in clean energy technology and its commercialization his entire career, from developing biofuels as a graduate student to leading the engineering team that developed the world’s first solar thermal free-piston Stirling engine.
Jerry Griffin is a partner, co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of BtB LLC, currently responsible for day-to-day operations and capital acquisition. Since 1992 he has also been the Managing Member of CFO On Call, LLC (and predecessor companies), a corporate financial consulting firm engaged in raising capital, restructuring financially-troubled businesses and managing complex financial projects.
Jerry received a B.A. from Yale University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. His business career includes ten years as an investment banker on Wall Street and ten years as CFO and second-ranking officer of Anglo Industries, Inc. During his tenure, Anglo became the largest oilfield hauling and oil drilling company in North America.
In 1992, Jerry formed the predecessor company to CFO On Call, LLC, a corporate financial consulting firm that has served small- to mid-sized companies in Ohio since that time.
