Blight to Bright

BtB, LLC, an Ohio-based developer of commercial-scale photovoltaic (“PV”) solar generating systems, has a clear mission: to bring the benefits of solar-generated electricity to schools, municipalities and businesses across Ohio.

The Company and its principals combine technical knowledge of solar energy and advanced optics with financial expertise and practiced management skills. BtB has developed a financial model that allows it to sell solar-generated electricity at lower-than-grid prices and to offer its customers the option to acquire entire PV systems at highly economic prices.

BtB began business in 2008 as “Blight to Bright”, a name chosen when its founder, Mark Schuetz, conceived a “solar solution” to the challenge of finding an economic use for a large plot of polluted acreage in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Schuetz, who had been following the progress of solar mandate legislation in Ohio, foresaw that the convergence of State energy and environmental policies meant that “brownfields” – blighted land – could be made bright with silicon panels. Although the Company has now identified schools, municipalities and businesses across Ohio as its primary customers, it continues to work with Mount Vernon and other cities in Ohio, as well as with the Ohio Department of Development and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, to create utility-scale solar farms on these polluted sites.
